The "Strawberry" model you referred to is now officially known as OpenAI o1. This model represents a new advancement in AI designed for complex reasoning tasks, particularly excelling in fields like coding, math, and science. It has been designed to "think before responding," mimicking human-like reasoning. This allows it to handle more difficult problems compared to earlier models. OpenAI o1 performs tasks such as generating and debugging complex code and solving multistep problems. However, it doesn't yet include some features present in other models, like web browsing or image uploads, and can be slower due to its more deliberate problem-solving approach. The o1 series includes a smaller, more cost-efficient version called o1-mini, which is optimized for coding tasks. Despite its strengths, OpenAI acknowledges that the model is still limited in certain areas. For example, GPT-4o may be more capable for some general tasks. The o1 models are available to ChatGPT Plus and Team users, with plans to extend access further in the future.

I made my first online sale 1,484 days ago. A humble $4.99 on the Unreal Engine Marketplace. Little did I know it would spark my obsession with business. Fast forward to December 29, 2024. I just validated a test and earned $4.20 USD from a similar product. But this time, it’s outside the marketplace. Why leave the marketplace after almost four years, thousands of dollars in revenue, and over 100 customers for my Chess Game Creator Template? Because my eyes opened. I assumed the marketplace was doing me a favor by showcasing my product, letting me focus on what I do best—building systems for creatives. But I realized I was doing the marketplace a favor too, by providing interesting content for their audience. Sounds like an ideal partnership, right? Wrong! It didn’t feel like a partnership. And many other creators felt the same—especially after Unreal Marketplace’s transition to FAB. It began to feel like an underpaid job: sell cheap, provide endless free support, and no real business tools. Your asset is just a commodity, competing with thousands of others. You can’t see who’s viewing it or retarget interested people. You only know the number of sales and the price. No way to follow up via email and provide extra value. You hope buyers join your Discord or Facebook community. That’s not how a partnership should look—it’s more like a service contract or employer-employee deal. My cousin told me once, “Don’t put your eagle in duck school!” So, I took my eagle out of duck school and equipped it to fly. No more pretending to be a swimmer when I’m built to soar. This is why I left the marketplace and took full responsibility for my assets. P.S. Have you felt like you had to let go of something so you can grow before?

The wait is finally over. GPT-5 is out, and it's called OpenAI o1. It can code an entire video game from a single prompt and do complex thinking. The best analog is that ChatGpt is evolving from using only System-1 thinking (fast, automatic, intutive, error-prone) to System-2 thinking (slow, deliberate, conscious, reliable). The co-creator of the iPhone, Tony Fadell on AI recently: "Today's AI LLMs are mostly glorified demos for the really interesting applications. They are turning into a commodity because they're overfunded by FOMO-driven VCs who don't truly understand the technology limitations that drive real application requirements" I see his point, but also see it differently: - Yes, many AI technologies are still under development. - Yet, observing the current trajectory of AI, it's clear that this isn’t just a fleeting trend. So, I don't think companies should look backward right now; instead, they should strategically manage their AI investments to avoid bottomless pits of unwarranted spend. Remember: 1) Prioritize investments in AI that address genuine needs and can solve real problems. TODAY 2) Focus on what truly matters. Do you need a 10B+ model just to do the copy-paste thing?  3) AI talent cost is expensive. But the more expensive thing is making the wrong hire. Play the long game! Expectations for innovation often outpace its actual speed.  But I think AI is different. Just looking at ChatGPT, it's going way beyond what most of us thought it would. One thing that is absolutely a good idea that you can do right now is to clean up your data. Maintain a high degree of data hygiene will pay off big as the technology develops. Agree? Disagree?  P.S. Stop investing $$$ for the features, that are available already... For example: Most Startups don't need a full Payment backend... Mostly software startups offer the same pricing plans, Either they can be: ✅ Subscriptions ✅ Onetime Payment ✅ Pay as you go Models Engineers often jump in to build such systems thinking it as a simple feature to build. That ends up with 100's of expensive dev hours invested in it. Instead of developing that entire structure from the ground up, YOU can opt for a service which can help you solve that problem. 🧠 versus 🤖 ... FIGHT 🥊 Comparing a brain 🧠 and a GPU 🤖 might be like comparing apples and oranges but it's a fun exercise so let's do it anyway. ⚡ Operations per second 🧠 1 exaFLOP (1 billion billion) 🤖 19.5 teraFLOPS (19500 billion) You'd need 51,000 GPUs to equal 1 brain. 🔌 Power consumption 🧠 20 watts 🤖 300 watts 51,000 GPUs at 300 watts each is 15.3 megawatts. That's of the order of a small town. Suffice to say the squishy wonders we lug around every day are pretty special. 🤯 For more fun, let's think about the latest open source LLM from Meta, Llama 3 70b. It has 70 billion parameters. Again 🍏 and 🍊 but a brain has of the order of 100 billion neurons. If each of the 70 billion parameters is a 32 bit or 4 byte floating point number, the model would need 280 GB worth of GPUs to hold the model in memory. You'd need 4 * 80 GB A100s from NVIDIA to run inference with this model. So you've got a 🧠 doing brain stuff at 20 watts. And you've got Llama 3 70b predicting the next word running at 1.2 kW. And from a FLOPS perspective the brain is 12,750 times better. The recent advances, the recent models, and the stuff you can do are super cool. This is it, OpenAI has finally released its "Speech to Speech" model, the final piece to make realtime speaking AI #agents and add them to your business. OpenAI has released a public beta of its Realtime #API, allowing developers to create low-latency, speech-to-speech experiences in their applications. The API enables voice assistants to respond to user requests and trigger actions using function calling. In a nutshell: 1. You are now able to create entirely new experiences leveraging voice-first AI interactions. 2. This model will then call your existing APIs. (And if you have none, code them now with #GenAI!) 3. Time for a #UX revolution 😎 The API is powered by the "gpt-4-turbo-realtime-preview" model. Technically, you can integrate it by connecting to a persistent WebSocket connection. In contrast, several key indices saw declines: the S&P 500 (INX) decreased by 0.12% to 5,466.77, the Russell 2000 (RUT) slipped by 0.05% to 2,016.36, and the Nasdaq Composite (IXIC) fell by 0.23% to 17,681.01.
